THE FACE OF L-BOOK PUBLISHING
Roxanne Kimball Jones
CEO L-Book Publishing
PIONEER IN THE EBOOK/AUDIO BOOK INDUSTRY
FOR LESBIAN FICTION AND ALL WOMEN!
(Dec 6, 1949 to Sept 26, 2012)
It is with a saddened heart that we lost our friend and mentor Roxanne Kimball Jones. She was born on December 6, 1949 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Roxanne died peacefully with her friends at her side on September 26, 2012. Quiet and shy, Roxanne was one of those 'doers' in life that left a mark wherever she went. Although petitie, she stood taller than most of those around her when it came to making her dreams come true. L-Book Publishing was a project she spent years developing, honing skills, investing her life savings and recruiting people who believed in her vision of making the best ebook/audio book publishing possible. Her expertise in computers and electronics was astounding but her talent went well beyond that world. She was in the marching band for the high school playing the clarinet, and in the shooting club, becoming a sharp shooter. She moved to California and attended one of the first computer schools in Los Angeles, Calif. She went on to become a systems engineer for Hewlett Packard and was involved with writing the software program for the BART system in San Francisco, Calif. She was also a natural teacher and went to China and Europe to introduce the new software programs. She retired early and moved to Palm Springs, Calif. to venture into new projects. She started her own Stained Glass Company, Computer Help Company and Book Publishing Corporation. She was always ahead of her time. She spent her last years publishing listening books and e-books under her L-Book ePublisher, LLC, Few people actually knew that the 'L' in L-Book stood for 'listening'. Sadly it was not possible to continue the L-Book legacy but Roxanne's will always live on. Her belief in ebooks and audiobooks was as strong the day she passed away as it was when she started in the computer industry many years ago. Roxanne fought her battles in an industry where women struggled to make a name for themselves and won respect from the highest ranks in the industry. She carried that strength with her when she was diagnosed with cancer. Sadly that was one battle too many. Now she is at peace with her loving and supportive parents. We will miss you Roxy but your legacy lives on in all of us who know you and cared about you. Have a big bucket of KFC up there!!!
The L-Book family will always remember you. You keep working from wherever you are and we'll do what we can from here.
